Red, White, or Beer?

Italian food is delicious on its own, but it’s even better when accompanied by a great wine. Most pasta dishes contain tomato sauce which is quite acidic.  Pairing a robust red wine with dishes such as spaghetti or meatballs complements the taste of the food as the acidity of the wine matches the acidity of the dish.  If you are in the mood for a salad or a dish comprised of fresh tomatoes or mozzarella, consider white wine as your choice of beverage. The citrus notes of white wine enhance the flavour of fresh food.

If wine isn’t a choice you want to consider, why not try one of our many varieties of beer?  One of our favourite Italian beers, Peroni Nastro Azzurro is a popular choice.  Made in the tradition of Italian craftsmanship, this pale lager is made from 100% natural ingredients including the finest of European hops.  The Peroni brewery named the brand Nastro Azzurro after the Italian ocean liner SS Rex.  The name means “blue ribbon” in Italian which refers to the award the SS Rex achieved in 1933 when it won a race across the western Atlantic Ocean.  The beer has also proven to be a winner as it is imported to countries all over the world.
