5 Fun Summer Events in Edmonton and Sherwood Park!
Summer is the perfect time to get out and explore the many activities that are exclusive to the season. Whether you’re staying within city limit or you’re heading out to the great outdoors, we want to get as much out of summer as you can. If you’re looking for an event fit for the whole family, we encourage you to attend one of these events:
Wander Around at Night Market Edmonton!
If you enjoy browsing through farmer’s markets, you will definitely want to explore Night Market Edmonton. Also known as Shopping Under the Stars, this event will open on May 20th on the corner of 105 Street and Jasper Avenue from 7 pm until 11 pm every Friday night.
Journey Through the Strathcona Wilderness Centre!
Plan family picnics or outings to the Strathcona Wilderness Centre. Spend the day exploring 22 km of interpretive hiking trails or canoeing on the river. You can also camp overnight. As part of your outdoor experience try a game of disc golf, which combines Frisbee and golf on a 9 or 18 hole course.
Explore the Telus World of Science!
Gazing out into the night sky is one of the best things to do on a warm summer night. The Telus World of Science gives you a chance to view space through powerful telescopes located at their observatory. In addition, they also offer many summer camps and programs for children and adults.
Float Down Pembina River!
There’s nothing better to do on a hot summer day than to go tubing on the Pembina River. Float down the gentle current of the winding Pembina River and view the 62 meter gorge created from the Ice Age. Pembina River Tubing, located near Entwhistle, Alberta, will provide you with tubes and life jacket rentals as well as a shuttle service to bring you back to your vehicle.
Spend the Afternoon at the Greenland Garden Centre!
Greenland Garden Centre is a wonderful destination for any gardener. Plants, shrubs, trees and garden decor can all be found at the centre. Join a class or check out ideas for creating ambiance in your yard. Relax at the Branches cafe and make this spring and summer gardening season a rewarding experience. Greenland is located off of Highway 16 and and Range Road 231 and is open 7 days a week for your convenience.
