Become a Pasta Pantry Fit Kid with Fit for the Future

We are thrilled to be partnering up again with Strathcona County to get the kids of the community involved and engaged in their health and wellness! For the entire month of April, kids (10-13 years of age) who participate in the Fit for the Future program can enter to win various prizes from Pasta Pantry. We are also launching the “Passport To Pasta”, a way for kids to track their sessions, collect stamps and earn free pasta. Read on to learn about these awesome initiatives!

What is Fit for the Future?

Fit for the Future introduces 10 to 13 year olds to the wellness centre and teaches proper use of fitness equipment. This is a mandatory program for 10 to 13 year olds who wish to use the wellness centres at Millennium Place, Ardrossan Recreation Complex, and Glen Allan Recreation Complex, and a wonderful way to get kids excited about their health and educated on how to properly use the facilities. This program is included with the Millennium Card or with regular admission.

Drop in Saturdays from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Millennium Place or Ardrossan Recreation Complex.

Some components the kids will take away from Fit For The Future include:

  • Proper workout guidelines and exercise principles
  • Weight room etiquette and safety
  • Resistance training, cardiovascular fitness and stretching techniques
  • How to do a proper warm up and cool down

Pasta Pantry Fit Kids

Participate in Fit for the Future and enter the Pasta Pantry Fit Kids Contest. The details are easy! Once the kids have completed their Fit for the Future session, they can enter in through our printed ballots by writing out why activity is important to them. Prizes for this draw include a $100 Pasta Pantry Gift Card, a $50 Pasta Pantry Gift Card or a tray of Pasticcio!

There are scheduled Fit for the Future times on April 1, 8, 15, 22, and 29, but if any non-scheduled sessions occur, kids can still enter. In addition, if kids 10-13 who have recently been in the program would like to fill out a ballot to enter, they are welcome to do so by checking in with a wellness staff member.

Passport To Pasta

Once the kids have completed Fit for the Future, they have 5 activity challenges to complete and get signed and stamped to finalize their Passport to Pasta. The completed passport earns them one free small or large pasty courtesy of Pasta Pantry, to be redeemed within one month of the challenge. We look forward to fueling up all these Fit Kids!
